Apple Event September 2021 Recap

Apple hosted its event on 14th September and introduced 4 new iPhones, 2 new iPads and an updated Apple Watch while leaving some rumoured products waiting in the wings. Apple introduced more than half a dozen products led by the iPhone 13 series.

Even though there are a large number of similarities between the iPhone 12 models from 2020 and this year’s iPhones, there are some significant changes too, especially on the iPhone 13 pro models for Apple users to upgrade to the new phones.

Let us take a closer look at the products launched during the Apple 2021 event.

Just like 2020, Apple has introduced 4 new phones this year and they come with the same price tags like last year’s iPhone 12 lineup - $699 for the iPhone 13 mini, $799 for the iPhone 13, $999 for the iPhone 13 Pro and $1,099 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 series models are powered by the new A15 Bionic chip.

Apple has reduced the notch size by 20% compared to the last year’s models on its new phones. There are some major improvements in the camera department as the new phones come with bigger sensors which let in more light. All the new phones come with a new Cinematic mode that brings Hollywood-style rack focus to the videos you shoot.

More substantial changes can be seen in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models which come with improved telephoto lenses. Also, these 2 models come with 120Hz ProMotion displays which will help the users to get a smoother and more immersive experience.

Apple has said the new phones will have a better battery life compared to the last year’s models all thanks to the bigger batteries and other tweaks.

Apple Watch 7

The Apple Series 7 watch will come later this year and its starting price is $399. But the changes on the new watch don’t seem to be that significant. The new watch has a larger display and comes with thinner bezels. It also supports fast charging and promises 8 hours of use with 8 minutes of charging.

It has a crack resistant front crystal but the battery life is 18 hours, which is the same as last year’s watch. The aluminium case of the watch comes in colors like blue, green, midnight (black), starlight (a gold-silver blend), and product red.

iPad 9

The iPad 9 comes with Apple’s A13 Bionic processor and comes with an improved 12MP front camera. It is said to offer better low light photography. It comes with a 10.2-inch Retina display and also has Touch ID which is built in the Home button. It comes with a price tag of $329.

iPad mini 6

It is Apple’s smallest iPad and is seeing its first update since 2019. It comes with a 8.3 inch screen, an edge to edge display and has a Touch ID button. The device has a USB-C port and 5G connectivity option. It also has Center Stage video and Apple Pencil support and comes with a price tag of $499.

The new MacBooks and AirPods 3 were missing in action from the Apple event which did surprise us and these products are expected to be announced after few months.
